AZOS® is a nitrogen-fixing bacteria that promotes growth and is completely natural, making it ideal for cloning and transplanting. Azos converts nitrogen into a usable form that is readily available to the plant. Nitrogen is essential for the formation of vegetative matter and for supporting abundant growth. Azos promotes growth while stimulating natural root development.
Plant Growth–Promoting Bacteria
Nitrogen-Fixing Bacteria: Of all the nutrients transported to plants through the soil, nitrogen is required in the greatest quantity. It drives chlorophyll production in foliage and keeps plants green and efficient. It is a fundamental component of amino acids and other compounds that ensure the health and productivity of crops. It is also an essential part of every protein molecule, yet soils often lack sufficient amounts of this element. However, the atmosphere is composed of about 80% nitrogen, which exists in a form (N₂ or atmospheric nitrogen) that is not conventionally available to plants.
Nitrogen from the Air – At some point during the evolutionary development of the Plant–Soil Microbial Matrix, certain bacteria began to specialize in tasks that enhance plant growth, which in return provided microbes with an opportunity to exchange for food sources. A select group of bacteria classified as “diazotrophs” began supplying nitrogen to plants from various sources, including decomposing plant debris, dead microorganisms, and the sequestration of atmospheric nitrogen. Azos belongs to the latter group and primarily functions as a converter of atmospheric nitrogen.
A Natural Isolate from the Amazon – Azos is a particularly efficient agent originally isolated in the Amazon basin, where the lack of soil, the rapid decomposition of vegetation by hungry microbes, and environmental conditions that demand “Growth to Survive” are fundamental characteristics of the ecosystem. AZOS specializes in the highly efficient conversion of nitrogen in its N₂ form into plant-available ammoniacal nitrogen.
Plant Growth Promoter: With increased nitrogen availability in the soil, AZOS can catalyze a natural growth hormone within plants that helps promote greater root and vegetative growth. AZOS is ideal for rooting cuttings, transplanting, and water-based applications at various stages of plant growth.
